About Ms. Toll

Bio:

Laurie brings 34 years of experience as a Minnesota educator to Upper Mississippi Academy. Her love of technology began in her first career as a speech-language pathologist where she taught non-verbal students how to use assistive technology as a communication tool. The tech geek in her found itself and continues to guide her work as a technology integration specialist.
Her passion is to encourage students and teachers to collaborate, create, and share their stories. Whether it’s through a clay animation video, a podcast, or a blog, she believes we all have something to contribute and powerful stories to tell. For the last 10 years, Laurie worked with a team of educators to develop one of the first STEM schools in Minnesota and in that process received a 2009 Tekne Award for Innovation in Teaching (K-12).
When Laurie is not at the skate park with her 8 year old she enjoys walking, biking, yoga and creating art in her garden.
